Description
This U-Thong style Shakyamuni Buddha is depicted in the Earth-Touching (Bhumisparsha Mudra) posture, representing the moment of enlightenment when the Buddha called upon the earth to witness his triumph over illusion and temptation. The composition reflects the balanced proportions and spiritual authority associated with the central Thai sculptural lineage connected to the early Ayutthaya tradition.
Distinctive elements — including the rounded cranial dome, compact torso, and strong facial structure with pronounced brows — express the stylistic vocabulary of this lineage. The bronze surface displays a developed green patina with areas of natural oxidation and tonal variation, giving the statue a dignified and time-softened appearance.
The seated form conveys a sense of grounded composure and stability, characteristics often associated with the sculptural tradition from which this style emerged.
With a height of 26 cm, it presents a well-balanced and substantial presence suitable for altar placement, meditation spaces, or contemplative display.
Dimensions: 20 × 14 × 26 cm (L × W × H)
