Description
This Rattanakosin style Buddha is depicted in the Dhyana Mudra (Meditation posture), representing inner stillness, concentration, and the cultivation of wisdom. The composition reflects the composed symmetry and devotional clarity associated with the Rattanakosin sculptural tradition.
Distinctive elements — including the calm oval facial structure, tightly arranged hair curls, and tall flame-like ushnisha — express the refined stylistic vocabulary of this lineage. The multi-tiered base, richly decorated with ornamental bands and inset detailing, further emphasizes its temple-oriented presentation.
The bronze surface displays a deep, mature patina with extensive remnants of aged gilding, creating a striking contrast between the darkened body and luminous gold leaf traces — a characteristic often seen in long-standing devotional pieces.
An inscription plate affixed to the base references Wat Rakhangkhositaram (Bangkok), adding contextual significance to the piece’s devotional background.
With a height of 49 cm and substantial weight, it offers a strong, commanding altar presence, suitable for dedicated worship spaces or prominent display.
