Description
This Rattanakosin style Seated Buddha is depicted in the Bhumisparsha Mudra (earth-touching posture), representing the moment of enlightenment where the Buddha calls the earth to witness his awakening. This gesture symbolizes spiritual victory, stability, and inner resolve.
The figure reflects key characteristics associated with the Rattanakosin period, including a calm facial expression, balanced proportions, and a refined flame finial rising from the ushnisha. The overall form conveys serenity and composure typical of Thai Buddhist sculpture from this era.
The Buddha is elevated on a multi-tiered base, designed in a stepped formation resembling a stylized temple or ceremonial platform. Surrounding the upper tiers are rows of small seated figures, adding visual depth and reinforcing the devotional nature of the piece.
The bronze surface shows a naturally aged appearance, with textured details and areas of wear consistent with time. Remnants of gold leaf are visible on both the Buddha and the base, reflecting past devotional application.
With a height of 16 cm, this piece offers a compact yet detailed representation of Rattanakosin-style craftsmanship, suitable for display or personal altar use.
