Description
This finely detailed Thai Buddha statue is depicted in the Earth-Touching (Bhumisparsha Mudra) posture, symbolizing the moment of the Buddha’s enlightenment and victory over worldly temptations.
The sculpture features a richly ornamented robe decorated with intricate floral and geometric motifs extending across the shoulder, torso, and legs. The decorative detailing, together with the layered pedestal design, gives the piece a refined and ceremonial appearance while preserving its traditional devotional character.
The Buddha is seated upon an elevated rectangular base adorned with repeating patterns and stylized decorative elements. The face carries a calm and meditative expression, complemented by elongated earlobes and tightly formed hair curls characteristic of traditional Thai Buddhist imagery.
Cast in bronze, the statue displays an aged surface patina with areas of natural wear and oxidation accumulated over time. Remnants of devotional gold leaf remain visible on the chest, adding further character and evidence of prior worship and offering practices.
The underside reveals age-related wear and old finishing materials consistent with long-term devotional use and handling.
An elegant and atmospheric Thai Buddhist sculpture suitable for altar placement, interior display, or Southeast Asian art collections.
