Description
This Thai Phaya Tao (sacred turtle) is engraved with intricate yantra inscriptions, representing longevity, protection, stability, and enduring fortune. In Thai spiritual belief, turtle forms are associated with long life, grounded energy, and the ability to withstand adversity.
The shell is covered with a circular yantra composition, surrounded by Thai sacred characters arranged in a continuous band. At the center appears a symbolic Phra Somdej imprint, a revered representation in Thai Buddhism often linked to protection, blessings, and spiritual merit.
The underside features a segmented yantra grid with incised characters, a layout commonly found in Thai ritual objects. These inscriptions are traditionally associated with protective and stabilizing qualities, reinforcing the turtle’s symbolic role.
The overall design closely reflects the Thai sacred turtle tradition popularized by Luang Phor Liew, a monk widely known for turtle-based amulets. While the exact origin of this piece is not specified, its form and symbolic elements align strongly with that lineage.
The surface displays natural aging, including oxidation and traces of worn gold leaf, giving the piece a grounded and time-softened character.
With a length of 12 cm, it offers a compact yet meaningful presence, suitable for display, personal collection, or symbolic placement.
Dimensions: 12 × 17 × 7 cm (L × W × H)
