Description
This Chinese Dragon Turtle (Long Gui) is a mythical creature that combines the body of a turtle with the head of a dragon, symbolizing a balance of stability, strength, and authority. In traditional belief, the dragon turtle is associated with protection, longevity, and the accumulation of wealth and success.
The figure is sculpted with an elongated neck and dragon-like head, featuring an open mouth and stylized facial details. The body is supported by four sturdy limbs, giving it a grounded and commanding presence typical of dragon turtle forms used in feng shui and symbolic display.
The shell is covered with intricate engraved markings arranged in a circular composition. These symbols are decorative and inspired by traditional mystical motifs, giving the piece an aged and esoteric appearance. They are not associated with a specific known script or religious lineage but contribute to the overall visual character of the sculpture.
Traces of worn gold-toned surface can be seen across the underside and parts of the shell, indicating previous gilding and natural aging over time. The surface displays oxidation and patina, adding depth and texture to the piece.
With a height of 25 cm, this dragon turtle carries a strong visual presence and is suitable for display, collection, or symbolic placement.
