Description
This Northern Tai style Shakyamuni Buddha is depicted as a Wednesday Buddha image, representing calm wisdom and the Buddha’s compassionate ability to pacify aggression. The composition reflects the refined proportions and spiritual composure associated with the northern Tai sculptural tradition of the Lanna–Shan cultural region.
Distinctive elements — including the tall flame-like ushnisha finial, elongated facial structure, and arched eyebrows — express the stylistic vocabulary of this lineage. The base is decorated with kneeling elephant and rat figures, traditional symbolic animals associated with the Wednesday Buddha representation.
The bronze surface displays a developed patina with subtle tonal variation, giving the statue a calm, dignified and time-softened appearance.
With a height of 33 cm and weight 3kg, it offers a balanced and substantial form suitable for altar placement, meditation spaces, or contemplative display.
Dimensions: 16 × 5 × 33 cm (L × W × H)
