Description
This Lanna style Shakyamuni Buddha is depicted in the Bhumisparsha Mudra (Earth-Touching Gesture), representing the moment of enlightenment when the Buddha called the Earth to witness his awakening beneath the Bodhi tree.
The composition reflects the elegant sculptural language associated with Northern Thai traditions, where serene facial expression, softly contoured features and rhythmic hair curls create a calm and contemplative presence.
A flame-shaped ushnisha finial rises above the head — a hallmark element derived from classical Thai Buddhist sculpture — symbolising the spiritual radiance and wisdom of the enlightened mind.
The Buddha is seated upon a decorative lotus throne, a symbol of purity and spiritual awakening in Buddhist iconography. The bronze surface displays a deep aged patina that enhances the statue’s visual depth and sculptural character.
The base contains a sealed consecration chamber, traditionally used to house sacred tablets or ritual elements placed during blessing ceremonies.
With a height of 34 cm, the statue presents a balanced and dignified form suitable for altar placement, meditation spaces or contemplative display.
Dimensions: 15 × 11 × 34 cm (L × W × H)
