Description
This Thai Phra Rahu is depicted in the celestial-devouring posture, representing the absorption of negative influences, reversal of misfortune, and protection against unseen obstacles. The figure is rendered with a strong guardian-like presence, reflecting the fierce and protective qualities associated with Rahu in Thai spiritual belief.
Distinctive elements — including the pronounced Yaksha-like facial features, layered ceremonial crown, and dynamic posture — express the integration of guardian aesthetics within Thai ritual art. The hands grasp a symbolic celestial sphere, reinforcing Rahu’s role as the devourer of eclipses and controller of karmic forces.
The octagonal base is engraved with Thai inscriptions, including “พระราหู” (Phra Rahu), along with yantra-like markings that emphasize the ceremonial and consecrated nature of the piece. The underside reveals embedded sacred amulets, a traditional feature in Thai ritual objects, indicating the inclusion of blessed materials within the structure.
The bronze surface displays a matured patina with areas of oxidation and age wear, giving the statue a grounded, time-softened character with natural tonal variation.
With a height of 19 cm, it offers a compact yet visually powerful presence, suitable for altar placement or focused display.
