This Thai bronze Phra Upakut is depicted seated in the Earth-Touching (Bhumisparsha Mudra) posture beneath a broad leaf hat, symbolising steadfastness, spiritual resolve, and the Buddha’s moment of enlightenment. The composition reflects the devotional traditions associated with Phra Upakut in Thai Buddhist culture, where he is revered as an enlightened arahant.
Distinctive elements—including the characteristic leaf hat, serene facial expression, monastic robe, and lotus pedestal with decorative motifs—express the stylistic vocabulary of traditional Thai devotional sculpture.
