Description
This bronze Buddha statue reflects a Northern Thai Buddhist artistic influence with visible Lanna and Shan stylistic characteristics. The sculpture presents the Buddha seated in the Earth-Touching (Bhumisparsha Mudra) posture, symbolizing the moment of enlightenment beneath the Bodhi tree.
The figure displays softly rounded facial features, elongated earlobes, tightly curled hair details, and a refined flame-like finial rising above the ushnisha — elements commonly associated with Northern Thai and neighboring Shan-influenced Buddhist traditions. The calm facial expression and balanced proportions give the statue a serene devotional presence.
The robe is rendered in a restrained manner, draped diagonally across the torso with simple flowing lines, while traces of applied gold leaf remain visible on the chest area from past devotional offering practices. The broad pedestal base and hollow underside construction are consistent with traditional Southeast Asian devotional bronze casting methods.
Its aged bronze surface, natural patina, and regional stylistic details give the piece a warm and contemplative character suitable for altar display, meditation spaces, or collectors of Southeast Asian Buddhist art.
