Description
This elegant Ayutthaya style Buddha statue is depicted in the Earth-Touching (Bhumisparsha Mudra) posture, one of the most revered representations in Buddhist art symbolizing the moment of enlightenment and unwavering spiritual resolve.
The figure features classic Ayutthaya-inspired characteristics, including a tall flame finial, sharply defined arched brows, elongated earlobes, and a serene contemplative expression. The proportions and facial structure reflect the refined and graceful aesthetics associated with traditional Thai devotional sculpture.
Cast in bronze, the statue has developed a rich aged patina with areas of natural oxidation and devotional wear. Remnants of applied gold leaf remain across the chest, while traces of verdigris oxidation contribute to the sculpture’s antique devotional appearance and character.
The base and underside show age-related wear and old construction finishing, further enhancing the piece’s authentic devotional presence. Its compact yet tall form makes it suitable for altar placement, display shelves, or as part of a Southeast Asian Buddhist art collection.
A refined and atmospheric Thai Buddhist sculpture with strong traditional character and timeless devotional appeal.
