Luang Phor Ruesi Lingdam was born on B.E.2460 (A.D.1917) in Tambon Sali, Suphanburi Province. He is known as the “Black Tongue Monk.” When Luang Phor Lingdam was six years old, he started to learn about Thailand’s ancient medicine. At 19, he became a pharmacist in the Naval Medical Department of the Royal Thailand Navy. On B.E.2480 (A.D.1937), at the age of 20, he was ordained as a Buddhist Monk in Wat Bang Nom Kho.
Luang Phor Lingdam had many highly revered teachers during his monkhood. He is a disciple of Luang Phor Parn. Luang Phor Lingdam attained excellent dharma and meditation powers very young. In B.E. 2492 (A.D.1949), he started adopting ascetic practices during rains retreat. Later, Luang Phor Lingdam was invited to return to Wat Bang Nom Kho to be the abbot.
Luang Phor Lingdam got a severe illness in B.E. 2500. (A.D.1957). After recovery, he travelled to the Northern Provinces and settled at a deserted temple, Wat Tha Sung, in B.E.2511(A.D.1968). He took the duty to repair and expand the temple in ruins until it became prosperous today. Wat Tha Sung is worth nearly one billion baht now.
Luang Phor Lingdam held many talks regularly and taught followers the primary focus of Nirvana attainment with the right conducts. His talks were frequently broadcasted on live T.V. and radio. Luang Phor Lingdam passed away on B.E.2535 (A.D. 1992).
